My Coffee Confession

How does one start off their day and keep the stress at bay?  How does one get out of bed and get rid of that feeling of lead? All rhyming aside the answer is quite simple.  COFFEE. Specifically, a cappuccino extra hot with a lot of steamed frothy milk.

My coffee journey started at the age of sixteen with Tasters Choice instant coffee. I then graduated to a drip machine, soon adopting a French coffee press, moving on to taste testing coffee from Starbucks and Peets Coffee (Peets definitely wins), and finally investing in a DeLonghi automatic espresso machine. Which makes the most delicious frothy cappuccinos.

There’s been a lot of conflicting information over the years about the health benefits of coffee.  It’s good for you. It’s not good for you. It can protect against skin cancer. It causes headaches.  And so on.  Every time a new report came out about its dangers, I would cut my intake. This affected my mood and my stress levels. It was hard to get out of bed.

So when the latest study came out this spring that coffee is really very good for you after all, I decided it was time to invest in a proper espresso  machine. I’m so happy with my purchase. When I wake up every morning I have something to look forward to. It gives me the energy to deal with the morning rush.

Over the years I realized that the one thing that gets in the way of having a good day, of having the energy to take care of myself and my family, is the morning stress. Packing lunch, getting my kids out the door, getting myself to work.  This DeLonghi machine has given me my morning sanity. No need to wait in line at the coffee shop. And in the long run it saves money too.
