How To Get the Most Out Of Your Hair Washing Routine

Wether you wash your hair once a week or every day, it is important that you wash your hair properly. By properly I mean that you are careful in your hair care routine so that you don’t damage your hair.

First be sure that you are using a sulfate free shampoo. Sulfates are harsh chemicals that can damage your hair. You also want to make sure the shampoo contains essential hair nutrients for maximum hair health. Of the shampoos currently on the market ProOrganic by Pura d’or fits the bill best.

Rinse your hair thoroughly under warm water before applying shampoo. This opens the hair cuticle allowing the shampoo in for a good clean.

If you have long hair, it is good to apply a bit of conditioner before shampooing. Your scalp makes sure that the hair close to it gets moisturized but very long hair needs a bit of help to retain its moisture so that the cleaning process doesn’t dry it out.

You do not need an excessive amount of shampoo for each hair cleaning. A little goes a long way. Massage the shampoo into your scalp with vertical motions and not circular ones as the circles can cause your hair to get knotty.

Don’t use conditioner too close to the scalp. It’s not necessary due to the natural oils produced there. Applying moisturizer too closely can interfere with the natural oil production. Better to apply conditioner midway down the length of you hair till the bottom.

Rinse with cold water if you can. This will close the cuticle, giving better hair protection.

Remember that the most important thing in hair care is not how many times a month you wash your hair, or how great the shampoo smells. It’s the nutrients you feed it, and the love you give it that will ultimately bring it to its greatest potential volume and shine.
